Make Martin Luther King, Jr. Day a day ON instead of a day OFF in 2020. This year MLK Day is on Monday, January 20, and is a chance for Americans to honor Dr. King’s legacy through service and volunteerism in their community. The day perfectly captures Martin Luther King, Jr.’s quote “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: ‘What are you doing for others?'”
Below you’ll find service projects going on near our Polinger apartment communities in which you can participate:
- 2401 Pennsylvania Ave – Help pack 1,000 care packages for the homeless at Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School’s “Inaugural MLK Feed the Good Day of Action”
- 4000 Massachusetts Ave – Be a part of a civic message for peace at the “2020 Martin Luther King Jr. Peak Walk and Parade”
- Bethesda Place – Decorate cards, pack food, and construct fleece blankets with the Montgomery County Volunteer Center at the “2020 MLK Day at Marriott Conference Center”
- Brighton Village – The City of Gaithersburg and Seneca Creek Community Church are partnering to put together care packages and do other service activities at “MLK Day At Seneca Creek”
- Congressional Towers – The City of Rockville is hosting “Light in the Midst of Darkness” a day of community services, musical performances, and more
- Country Place – Clean up Glenmont Local park at the Montgomery Park’s MLK Service Event
- Highland House and Highland House West – Rock Creek Conservancy is holding their annual “Help Maintain Rock Creek Park” clean up event
- Rollins Park – Participate in Rockville’s 48th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration and create blankets for children in need
- The Swift Petworth – Join volunteers and attend this “Cleanup the Anacostia” event
Polinger Company strives to give back to our communities and actively seek to support the areas our properties are located. We organize service events throughout the year. Together with our site teams, our corporate office employees recently participated in our volunteer event at Capital Area Food Bank and packaged 340 bags for seniors and packaged 500 boxes for families. In all, we packaged over 15,000 pounds of food and had tons of fun doing it! Thank you to our team members who came out to help!
