Winter Tips for Cozy Apartment Living

Winter Tips for Cozy Apartment Living

Winter is fast approaching, which for many people, means preparing for joyous holiday celebrations and not-so-joyous inclement weather conditions.

Even in the comfort of a warm apartment in the company of loved ones, winter can bring about some challenges we don’t often think about until they start happening, like being cooped up inside, staying cold- or flu-free, stocking up on groceries, staying motivated to exercise.

Here are some tips for keeping cozy in your apartment during the winter.

  1. Curl up by the fire

Who doesn’t love cozying up by the fire with a nice cup of hot chocolate, watching the snow fall?

The Arcadian at Silver Spring

Residents at 2401 Pennsylvania Avenue, The Arcadian, and The Swift Petworth can enjoy fireplaces in their home and/or in their resident clubroom, where they can cozy up to the fire and beat the cold weather.

  1. Stock up on groceries

An important step to preparing for the winter weather ahead is making sure you have easy access to a grocery store, should you need to stock up for an upcoming snowstorm.
Don’t wait until the last minute to prepare for a snowstorm. During the winter, tune in frequently to local weather sources and make sure you stock up on the necessary supplies. That’s why our communities offer quick and easy access to grocery and convenience stores, like The Swift Petworth, which has a downstairs Safeway or Bethesda Place with an on-site Safeway, where residents can take their shopping cart right up to their front door.

  1. Clear your parking spot

Clearing your parking spot of snow can be a pain, especially if you don’t have your own designated parking spot, it can quickly be stolen after you’ve spent your time shoveling out your car.

Polinger communities; The Swift Petworth, Bethesda Place, Highland House, Highland House West, and 2401 Pennsylvania Avenue all have garage parking, where residents don’t have to worry about shoveling snow, clearing their parking spot, and digging out their car under a mountain of snow.

  1. Stay active

Being cooped up inside while it’s cold out can suck the motivation out of you to exercise and stay active. Routinely exercising during the winter is very important though, as it will relieve the frustration cabin fever can bring.

If the temperature doesn’t permit working out outdoors, try joining a gym or even doing light exercises in the comfort of your apartment living room. Fortunately, for our residents, they’re able to access an on-site fitness center at any hour of the day, every day, making it easy and convenient to achieve a healthy and happy lifestyle when they’re cooped up inside during the winter.

Our communities, Country Place, The Swift Petworth, The Arcadian, Brighton Village, Highland House, Highland House West, Congressional Towers, Rollins Park, and Columbia Plaza all offer 24/7 fitness centers.

  1. Stay entertained

Winter is the perfect time to start delving into new books or exploring new hobbies. When you’re embracing the cold weather and show and ice skating or sledding, reach out to your neighbors, attend resident events, or take advantage of the amenities available to you.

Our residents have access to countless amenities to enjoy year-round. The Swift Petworth leasing team hosts various resident events in their clubroom, like paint nights, potlucks, and game nights. The Arcadian also offers a clubhouse, featuring a bar and kitchenette, billiards table, and plenty of sitting areas with a view of their scenic surroundings. Brighton Village offers residents a renovated recreational center, featuring a fitness center, yoga studio, party room, and business room.

Congressional Towers and Rollins Park residents have access to Rollins Congressional Club, an absolutely free amenity featuring a fitness center and banquet room available to booking holiday parties, business functions, and other special events.

Enjoy the winter weather ahead by spending time with loved ones, making new friends, relaxing in your apartment, and exploring your favorite hobbies while staying healthy! Our communities make that easy for you! Contact our leasing offices today to schedule your personal tour.

Polinger Cares

#PolingerCares 2017

As a part of our annual #PolingerCares company-wide volunteer initiative, the Polinger team tackled a big project at Raymond Education Campus in Washington, D.C., where we came together to paint the school and show off their school colors of green and yellow!

Proudly sporting our Polinger caps, leasing and maintenance teams from various communities were excited to come together for a day of giving back to the community.

Raymond Education Campus, or Charles W. Raymond Elementary School was constructed in two sections in 1924 and 1928, with alterations in 1964 when classrooms on the west side were added. The school was named in honor of Charles W. Raymond, who served as engineer commissioner from 1888 to 1890, and a U.S. Corps of Engineers member.

They strive to empower students to communicate effectively, solve problems independently, demonstrate effective leadership skills, and become responsible citizens in a global society. Their vision is to create an exemplary learning community, where students will acquire the necessary skills to attend college and succeed in our global society.

As an older school, understandably, they wanted a fresher look. The Polinger team jumped at the opportunity to help them achieve that while they work hard to shape the future success of our children.

Dedicated to yet another Polinger volunteer initiative, Mr. Polinger is so proud that his team of talented and hard-working individuals put in their time and effort to really transforming the hallways of this school for students, teachers, and staff to enjoy for years to come.

We’re fortunate to have a team who cares so much about improving and giving back to the community, and having fun while doing it!

We can’t thank our team enough for volunteering and look forward to our next opportunity! Each of our communities really came together to give back to the community.
