Our expert team of Leasing Managers have created a list of tips to help get yourself prepared to and make your move a breeze. Whether you’re moving into your first apartment or not, make your move safe and fun instead of a hassle!

1. Make your arrangements in advance

While each Polinger community team of professionals are here to help you every step of the way, here’s a checklist of things you want to focus on during the planning process of your move. We highly recommend that you begin planning several weeks ahead of time.

  • Mark your calendar with the day of your move and set aside time to plan and pack
  • Order boxes and moving supplies, such as tape, bubble wrap, and permanent markers
  • Choose your mover and confirm the arrangements, whether it’s done professionally or with the help of friends and family
  • Begin packing things that you use most infrequently
  • File a change of address with the Postal Service

Working your busy schedule around packing, moving, and then unpacking is important. While you may think it won’t be a long process, it usually is. Still, there are ways to get organized and plan ahead of time in order to ensure that the process runs smoothly.

2. Mark each box by destination

Whether you have a lot of boxes or not, labelling them is guaranteed to save you some valuable time. We recommend that you clearly label and number each box with its contents and the room it’s destined for.

Luckily, Polinger communities offer room for storage and the majority provide spacious walk-in closets. For example, Rollins Park offers walk-in closets and large eat-in kitchens, so there’s plenty of room to neatly store your belongings and decorate at the same time. With these eat-in kitchens, you’ll won’t have to resort to storing your pots and pans in your closet!

Highland House’s spacious apartment homes with oversized walk-in closets provide all the necessary space and more to organize and store your many belongings. Country Place’s separate washer and dryer area and eat-in kitchens also allow for more space to organize everything in your apartment home.

When checking out an apartment’s floor plan, make sure the layout suits your specific needs. Just glancing at it and assuming it will work isn’t enough. Make sure that the apartment you’re leaning towards matches your lifestyle. That’s definitely something that Polinger’s many communities offer and take seriously.

3. Check out the location

When moving into a new apartment, one of the things that many people first consider is the location. Are there restaurants, grocery stores, shops, hospitals, pharmacies, schools, and entertainment options close by? These are definitely things you should be wondering when checking out an apartment. That’s why Polinger communities are conveniently located in areas that have a lot to offer in ways of promoting a happy and healthy lifestyle.

Brighton Village is just minutes from the Shady Grove Metro station among various ethnic restaurants, great parks, and events hosted by the proud city of Gaithersburg.

Bethesda Place is yet another great example of an apartment community located in a perfect spot. Their location offers upscale retail shops, stylish boutiques, cafes, breweries, wine bars, live music, art galleries, theatres, and so much more all while being just a couple blocks away from Bethesda Row.
