Another benefit to signing a lease in the winter is that you have less competition from other renters. During the summer months, there are tons of renters applying for the same apartments. This can force you to make a rushed decision to avoid missing an opportunity.

Moving companies experience the same seasonal ebbs and flows in business as apartment communities. This means they will have more flexibility to work around your schedule in the winter. Plus, they may charge you lower rates than they would in the busy summer months. Looking to recruit your friends instead? Enlisting their help on a weekend in early December will be an easier task than convincing them to give up a weekend in July during vacation season.
