National Independence Day Celebrations

A major benefit of living in or near Washington, D.C. is being in the center of the nation’s capital, where celebrations are frequent and extravagant. Festivals such as the Cherry Blossom Festival and the Smithsonian Folklife Festival attract people from all over the world while the Memorial and Labor Day parades are national traditions that capture America’s attention.

One of the greatest D.C. celebrations is, unsurprisingly, the National 03-MDP-FlaglineIndependence Day Parade. This is an annual event that takes place on July 4 starting at 11:45 AM on Constitution Avenue, from 7th to 17th Street. Every year, hundreds of thousands of people come together in D.C. in honor of America’s Birthday since there is no better place to celebrate than right in the heart of our great nation’s capital.
